Probability, Not Certainty

The model converts breach severity into expected annual loss using a size-based breach-likelihood assumption instead of treating a breach as guaranteed.

Potential loss reduction is shown as a 25–50% modeled range and compared with the testing budget you enter. It is an assumption, not a guaranteed outcome.

Transparent assumptionsIBM 2026 sector breach costs are the benchmark basis. Annual breach probability varies by company size. The 25–50% loss-reduction range is a Blaze modeling assumption, not a guaranteed outcome.
How we calculate this

1. Event exposure. IBM 2026 sector breach-cost benchmark × one company-size scale factor. Regulated-data uplift applies only to sectors where regulation is not already reflected in the sector benchmark.

2. Expected annual loss. Event exposure × annual breach probability by size band: 5%, 10%, 18%, or 25%.

3. Potential loss reduction. 25–50% of expected annual loss. This is an explicit Blaze scenario range, not a published statistic or guarantee.

4. Indicative return. Potential loss reduction ÷ the testing budget you entered. Revenue and record count are shown as context only and do not inflate the breach-cost model.

Benchmark basis: IBM Cost of a Data Breach Report 2026. Ecommerce currently uses the global benchmark rather than an unverified sector-specific figure. All outputs are illustrative USD estimates, not financial advice or a Blaze quote.
